Dr Thio is an Occupational Health Physician with more than 20 years industry experience, covering manufacturing, pharmaceutical, retail, general medicine and academic work, including extensive experience in offshore oil and shipping industries. He obtained his Medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1986.
Dr Thio is an accredited Designated Factory Doctor and holds a Diploma and Master's in Occupational Medicine from NUS. He is accredited with CAA (New Zealand) for the medical examination of pilots, the OGUK, Norwegian Maritime Directorate & Norwegian Board of Health for the medical examination of offshore workers and was a past HSE (UK) medical examiner of divers. He is an AME for EDTC/IMCA & Shell for commercial divers.
Currently, Dr Thio is a part-time clinical tutor lecturer and committee member for the Graduate Diploma & Masters in Occupational Medicine within the Department of Epidemiological & Public Health Dept. at NUS. He is also a member of the Occupational and Environmental Health Society (OEHS) of Singapore.
